Evaluation 2) How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?

As a package our ancillary task and our music video work extremely well together to portray our artist's image and creating a very iconic, edgy persona, which throughout is the main focus of our digipak for the artist 'The Ka$h Mob'.

Throughout we challenged usual conventions seen within the general media industry, as we have made our main artist a female, whom is seen as being extremely independent, and has quite a unique persona that we intended to promote through her costume and hair/makeup. In general our chosen genre of Electro-Pop/Synth Pop is quite an accentric, and unique genre and therefore we had to ensure that was portrayed within the entirety of my digipak and music video.

We placed our artist in external, quite edgy, rundown looking locations which can be seen within the CD cover and the music video, and I believe these outdoor locations merely affluence her unique look more, having her quite dark costume contrast with the brighter greens and natural tones. Also these quite ominous looking locations make our artist look quite independent as she is standing alone, and this makes her seem brave etc, contrasting to the normal expectations of women within the entirety of the media world.

Also to again connote this quite quirky, unique persona we had our artist doing quite different things within both the video and the digipak, to make her look quite eccentric. For example on the advert we have both of  the duet drinking tea, but both holding the mugs quite awkwardly to suggest they like to be different and to not fit in with the crowd. And to strengthen this further in the music video, there were shots including ones of her in the snow spinning around with the camera laughing, and also a mid shot of the female artist of the duo cheekily smirking away from the camera to connote there may be the male of the duet somewhere near by, making her looking fun and carefree.

Finally again to strengthen our artists quirky, eccentric persona, which was the most important aspect we wished to portray through our music video and our digipak because we wished to battle the normal assumptions that women artists should be feminine and quite girly, we wished to make an edgy, unique female artist, to compliment the uniqueness of our chosen genre. We gave our artist a feature within her makeup, which is red lipstick and that can be seen in all shots of the music video and all images on the CD cover and the advertisement, and this we aimed to continue throughout as her unique feature which makes her stand our from all locations through the quite bold, brash colour of her lips.

Evaluation 3) what have you learned from your audience feedback?

Here is a video showing examples of our target audience viewing our digipak and giving us feedback on ways we could improve it.

The audience fed back to us that the placement of the text on our advertisement made it unclear as to who the artist were and what the name of the album was, therefore as you can see below, we swapped both of these around to make it clearer for them to highlight this, however we kept the same font as they responded positively about the style of the font present.
